Brief Biography: Barbara is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and has been with DCN since 2012.
She did her medical “growing up” in the San Francisco bay area, working at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, California, for many years in
the NICU and PICU. After travelling to China for a medical tour, she was inspired to attend UCSF in San Francisco for her masters and
certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She has worked as a PNP in pediatric cardiology, neurology, special hematology, and
pulmonology at Children’s in Oakland. In Colorado, her home state, she worked in a clinic where she also was a clinical instructor for
PNP students from CU. She then worked in a pediatric clinic in Wheat Ridge; while there, she started one day a week in the simulation lab
here at DCN. Barbara found that she really enjoyed teaching nursing students, and now works full time for the Denver College of Nursing in
the simulation lab. Working with small groups allows her the opportunity to get to know students, learn what their goals are, and to try
to foster their visions and aspirations as much as possible. |
