Ms. Benton joined the DCN team in July of 2018. She has been in
healthcare since 1994. She started as an EMT and then became a Paramedic in 1997. She completed her ADN in 2006, followed by her
BSN in 2010 and her MSN in Nursing Education in 2014. She has been teaching nursing students since 2012. She has taught pharmacology,
adult health and pediatric didactic classes, Leadership online and has instructed over twenty-five nursing clinicals. She has also
co-authored chapter 24 in Gerontological Nursing: Competencies For Care; 4th Edition. As a nurse, she has only ever worked in the
emergency department. Her time has been split between two level-I adult trauma centers and two level-I pediatric centers. In 2011,
she became a certified sexual assault nurse examiner/forensic nurse. She continues to work at a hospital in the greater Denver area.
